I just picked up the Shortstache Filter (a polarizer and 1/2 black mist filter) by PolarPro to use at this summer’s Concours d’Elegance in Cincinnati (a vintage and exotic car show), but I was curious to see how it might perform for macro photography, too.

For my birthday, I treated myself to a self-guided tour of the Ohio State Reformatory, the filming site of The Shawshank Redemption.

I was very fortunate to have been able to spend last week working in Brussels. Each day was filled with new experiences (almost to the point of being overwhelming) and tons of walking and exploring.

My son and I participated in the Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance annual Countryside Tour, a scenic driving tour from Ohio into the hills of Kentucky.

I took nearly a year off from creating artwork to focus my efforts on learning more about photography. In a nutshell, this is what I’ve learned so far.

A couple of baby earthworms just doing their thing (accompanied by a binaural/528Hz “happiness” ambient background tune). Watching the blood pulse through their skin is so mesmerizing.

I have a grow light that automatically turns on for me each morning. The light alternates from blue to red, which casts a neon purple glow on everything I shoot (unless I use a flash) which make for some interesting effects.

I found this little worm (not sure of the species) crawling around my moss and Venus Flytrap plants this morning.

A little wet and fighting the cold this morning, I ignored work for a few minutes and rushed out to take some snapshots of my pussy willow trees which had just started to bloom.
