I was very fortunate to have been able to spend last week working in Brussels. Each day was filled with new experiences (almost to the point of being overwhelming) and tons of walking and exploring.
Now that I’m back home and have had time to rest and reflect on my trip, I do regret not taking more time to slow down. I should have made time to sit alone at a cafe to chain smoke and drink little coffees and just people watch. It’s easy to get caught up in the thrill of walking (and walking) and discovering new things around each corner.
Sycamore trees have always been my favorite, and the streets are lined with very old and gnarly ones. The beer, chocolate, and waffles were seriously the best I’ve ever had, and the time spent with good friends will be something that I’ll always remember.
Did I mention that I walked a lot? 😉
Really nice photos Ed! It’s amazing how B&W forces the viewer to see a lot more details than with color. I love them! I like your idea of just sitting down somewhere and let the experience happen rather than go look for it. Not something most tourists do I’m afraid 🙂
Thanks so much, Chantal!
I’m so glad you were able to go. The photos and perspectives are all amazing – thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much Brad, and thanks for filling in the gaps while I was away!
