I just picked up the Shortstache Filter (a polarizer and 1/2 black mist filter) by PolarPro to use at this summer’s Concours d’Elegance in Cincinnati (a vintage and exotic car show), but I was curious to see how it might perform for macro photography, too.

For my birthday, I treated myself to a self-guided tour of the Ohio State Reformatory, the filming site of The Shawshank Redemption.

I was very fortunate to have been able to spend last week working in Brussels. Each day was filled with new experiences (almost to the point of being overwhelming) and tons of walking and exploring.

My son and I participated in the Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance annual Countryside Tour, a scenic driving tour from Ohio into the hills of Kentucky.

I have a grow light that automatically turns on for me each morning. The light alternates from blue to red, which casts a neon purple glow on everything I shoot (unless I use a flash) which make for some interesting effects.

I found this little worm (not sure of the species) crawling around my moss and Venus Flytrap plants this morning.

A little wet and fighting the cold this morning, I ignored work for a few minutes and rushed out to take some snapshots of my pussy willow trees which had just started to bloom.

As a way to help me on my path deeper into macro photography, I brought some moss in from the cold and have been watching and caring for it daily. It’s fascinating stuff to observe.

As I venture down the rabbit hole of macro photography, one of the neatest subjects has been a dead mosquito that I pulled from a web in my basement.
